National Mom & Pop Business Owner Day!

Hey Bloom/211 clients! It’s your friendly studio assistant, Mae, here. I’d like to give a few shoutouts to some of our lovely neighbors!

March 29th is National Mom & Pop Business Owner day! Since we fall under that category, we figured it was a great excuse to celebrate! (Honestly, though, what isn’t a great reason to celebrate..?) And to show how ecstatic we are to fall into that category, we wanted to take a moment to point out some other great small businesses in the Highlands Square. Of course, we can’t mention them all, but a few of our favorites are:

Wordshop. – For ALL your gifting needs. Cute, quirky (and sometimes the perfect amount of inappropriate) cards for all occasions deck out the walls in this little shop. Some of the creators of these cards are local artists, and as artists, we fully support people that support our fellow artists and designers! Check out their website here: wordshopdenver.com

The Perfect Petal – Another great place for giving (and receiving, if you’re the “treat yo-self” type.) Walking into this shop, you’ll be greeted by such a friendly staff and overwhelmed by the plethora of beautiful, fresh flowers from the floral shop in the back. On your way back there, be sure to check out the awesome garden-inspired clothing, jewelry, trinkets (and my personal favorite) the books! See what they’re all about here: http://www.theperfectpetal.com/

West Side Books –  If you’re also the reading type, Westside Books is going to be your new favorite spot. They are an independent bookstore that’s been in our neighborhood since 1998. They have old books and new books and red books and blue books (yes, I went there.), they also have old posters moleskin notebooks, all kinds of gifts for people of all ages and maturities. So go rare-book-searching amongst their giant collection! If you have books you’d like to sell for store credit (or occasionally cash money!) visit their website for more information. http://westsidebooks.com/

Cafe Zuri – After you’ve made your selection of interesting reads at West Side, head on down the street to Cafe Zuri to partake of some fantastic coffee, their micro-bar and their homemade pastries (TRY THE QUICHE!). You will not be disappointed. However, don’t plan on drinking your specialty latte if you also plan to whip out your laptop and get some work done. Cafe Zuri values real human connections and the making of new friends. So go on, enjoy your coffee, or your beer or your whiskey on the rocks – but also take an hour or so out of your day to unplug from the digital reality we spend so much time in and enjoy a few moments of great company, a good book and the great cultures of this European cafe. Learn more about what they stand for here: http://www.cafezuri.com/

I could go on and on, you guys. I am proud to not only be a part of one of the great mom and pop shops around here, but I also have the privilege of living right around the corner so I can walk to all of my favorite places each and every day.

Be sure to check out some of these awesome shops and like them on Facebook!
