Happy Pride! | Orlando Vigil |Bloom Portraits 2016

Hey, Denver! So, Pride weekend along with Denver Comic Con are here this weekend and we know traffic is crazy, schedules are probably crazy, and the world is a little crazy as well. The world seems a little more hectic this week in all ways, so we wanted to share a little color with you all.

Bloom Portraits attended the candlelight vigil to pay our respects and show our love to those lost at Pulse last weekend, to those who have been physically, mentally or emotionally traumatized from this horrific event. Here are some of the images we captured.

It warmed us to see all of those rainbow umbrellas go up all across Cheesman Park on Monday night. For hours, people stood out in the persistent rain to support their LGBTQ communities, pay respects to every person who has ever been a victim of a hate crime, and listen to the passionate speeches given by several supportive members of the Denver and PFLAG community.

I promise ALL the photos aren’t dark and depressing. Get ready for the rainbows.

The thing I wanted to capture more than anything was all of the love- because love will always win, guys.

Always.

Even though there were a lot of tears shed at the wake of the shooting, I believe I saw even more hugs. Even more friendly smiles. Even more people consoling others that were clearly struggling with this especially hard. Nothing but love, compassion and resilience was present at Cheesman Park on that rainy Monday night. Even though the clouds may seem a little darker here recently, there is so much beauty in human beings. In the little guys. In the people that don’t make the news. There is so much color in this world, even when is seems so gray sometimes.

Have a happy, safe Pride weekend- Regardless of what your plans are. Regardless of whether you’re wearing a three-piece suit to an important meeting or a skimpy rainbow costume at your local Pride event. Have the time of your life- without the fear. Because there is so much love to be celebrating right now.

P.S. – I didn’t snap a photo of it, but there was a beautiful rainbow behind the pavilion as these lovely people were giving their speeches. All of the rain was more than worth it.
